Boy Pirate and the Sea Angel :Sunset version:

A little picture I made for a friend.  Our characters (Chris and Luzi) as they appear in the One Piece world.  These two are always a couple in whatever version we make of them.  This here is the sunset variation

The story behind their relationship is this:  Chris was a homeless boy who stowed away on ships many times and traveled the seas.  Then one day he ate a devil fruit by accident and then the ship he was hitching a ride on was destroyed by a gang of pirates.  Not knowing that what he ate was a devil fruit, Chris was unable to swim and was close to drowning into the depths of the sea.  But fate smiled upon him as he was rescued by a beautiful young blue mermaid, who went by the name of Luzi.  She told Chris that she was a mermaid who was half human, and had the ability to turn her tail into a pair of legs.  He was grateful to her for saving his life, and asked her to join him on his little adventures.  She gladly accepted, and stayed by his side no matter what.  From there, things started getting better for the two of them.  They now have their own ship and crew to go wherever they pleased.

Their relationship works pretty well, in more ways than just emotional.  If Chris ever falls into the water, Luzi can just swim in and safe him from drowning.  He's lucky that a Devil Fruit user like him has pretty Sea Angel like her looking out for him.
